Penner’s is a 'Texas Treasure'

The Texas Historical Commission has given local men's clothing and apparel retailer, Penner’s, its Texas Treasure Business Award.

Penner’s Men’s Store was founded in 1916 by a Jewish immigrant from Poland, Morris Penner, and his sons Sam and Max.

The store is known for guayaberas, which are specially made for Penner’s in the Mexican state of Yucatan.

The Texas Treasures Business Award honors businesses that have been operating for more than 50 years and that create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

The Texas Historical Commission administers the award.
